Theresa worked with her amazing colleagues Liz Ogbu and Christine Gaspar, along with support from other members of the Equity Collective to create Dick and Rick, a visual primer on Social Impact Design. Next City did a great article on the primer.
Big City Lab exhibition at ArtShare LA Gallery, June 11, 2016 2-4:30pm
With the support of the SPArt Foundation Community grant Big City Lab has been working with an incredible group of students from Camino Nuevo Charter Academy - Miramar High School. Students been engaged in a research project to understand community based issues and define their own sense of place with a great team of facilitators, including Theresa Hwang (urban design/architecture), Ricardo Palavecino (photography), Margaret Medina (creative writing), Louis Alvarado(graphic design), and a short documentary created by the team at Form follows Function.

DESIGN FUTURES 2016
Theresa will be facilitating and curating a series of all-student workshops at this year's Design Futures Student Leadership Forum at the University of Virginia.
DESIGNING EQUITY
Theresa will be attending Designing Equity, a convening of the Surdna Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts on May 9, 2016. The day long convening will look at the state of community-engaged design and how it actively participates in achieving equity in communities.
Open Engagement
Theresa will be attending and facilitating a conversation at Open Engagement, a social practice and community-engaged arts conference in Oakland April 29-May 1, 2016. She will be presenting with dear friends and collaborators Christine Gaspar and Liz Ogbu. Their panel and workshop is titled: the Politics of Place: Power and Privilege in Placemaking taking place on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 2:30pm.
